In partnership with Argonne National Laboratory, this project coordinates climate data guidance and standardization activities between Cal-Adapt and the Climate Risk and Resilience Portal (ClimRR). ClimRR was constructed and is maintained by Argonne through collaborative effort and funding on behalf of DOE’s Grid Deployment Office (GDO), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the U.S. telecommunications company AT&T. Through this sponsored effort, ClimRR serves as a national platform for disseminating climate data and information in ways that maximize its utility in local-scale decision-making by technical and non-technical audiences alike (i.e., from science and engineering professionals, to policy makers, and to the general public). The collaboration between Cal-Adapt and ClimRR is designed to build a greater community of practice towards consistent, high-quality, scientifically informed guidance around core climate topics faced by climate data providers and ensures greater national consistency in how governments (i.e., federal and state-level) provide actionable climate information to communities, infrastructure owners/operators, and the public at large.
This work is funded in part by the Department of Energy.
