To meet California’s energy goals and enhance the way that the energy demand forecast accounts for climate change, there is an urgent need to incorporate improved climate data, downscaled climate model projections, and advanced modeling techniques into electricity and gas demand forecasting, system planning tools, and resilience analyses. This project aims to strengthen statewide analytic capabilities for transparently integrating climate variability, extremes, electrification trends, distributed energy resources, and load-modifying behaviors into energy sector planning.
